Visiting a City that's Full of Festivity

Vigan City is the capital city of Ilocos Sur, situated in the northern part of Luzon, the Philippines largest island, is a destination that offers a unique and enriching experience for tourists. With its rich history, preserved architecture, and local products, Vigan City is a must-visit tourist spot. The city of Vigan is also known for its joyous festivals that always attracts tourist which makes them come back for more.

One of these joyous festival in Vigan is the Longganisa Festival. The Longganisa Festival is held every 22nd day of January, the commemoration of

the cityhood anniversary and the Vigan City Fiesta is on January 25th, the feast day of St. Paul, the city's Patron St. These double celebration revolved on the thanksgiving for all the gains that the city have reaped over the past years.

It is a week-long celebration in honor of St. Paul the Apostle that starts on January 25. This festival fills the streets of Vigan with colorful exhibits, carnivals, and locals performing street dances. The talented street dancers never fails to entertain and amuse the tourist and their fellow Bigueños.

Since the first day of the celebration, it was already so colorful and fun. The opening of the festival was
done by a parade of marching bands from different schools. The kids were so adorable with their musical instruments and some with their dancing skills with their fancy flags. After the parade, there was a marching band showdown at the Plaza Maestro and there are three participants which showed a great performance. The way they twist and turn their flags was synchronized and the musicians (drummers & xylophonist) did not skip a beat. All of them performed well but only one is rightfully deserving for the first place which is the marching band of Ilocos Sur National High School.

Aside from the marching bands and parades, the festival also includes carnivals. The place was so packed and everyone we saw was enjoying. The carnival has a lot of thrilling rides such as the Viking.

After screaming at the top of our lungs, we went to grab something to eat which isn't a problem because near the carnival is a bunch of food stools which offered a variety of delicious foods.

Overall, I had a great time and having the opportunity to visit Vigan is just such a wonderful experience. Visiting here was breath of fresh air because the of the radiating smiles and fascinating performances of the dancers. I would also like to include the night when we went to the carnival and all I can think about is "vacay well spent". All of these events gave me such an amazing memory that would make me want to comeback again and I would definitely will. See you next time Vigan!!
