We Filipino people have long been recognized for our resilience in the face of adversity. Throughout history, we have endured numerous challenges including natural disasters, political turmoil, economic hardships, and even foreign invasions. No matter how difficult the challenges are or how many times we fall we will still stand tall, face it all together, and have a radiating smile at the end.
Filipinos are one of a kind race. In history, we have a tumultuous past because we have been colonized by various bigger countries. Spanish colonization lasting for over three centuries was followed by American occupation and Japanese invasion during World War II. These events shaped the collective consciousness of the Filipino people and instilled them. Philippines is also known as a country that is prone to natural disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, and volcanic eruption. Despite the frequency and intensity of these calamities , we Filipinos have developed resilience strategies to cope with such events. The experience gained from previous disasters will be used to prepare for the next one. Our ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and come together as a community during times of crisis is testament to our strength. We Filipinos are known for having the "BAYANIHAN SPIRIT" derived from the word "BAYANI", meaning hero or patriot," bayanihan" refers to our practice as of communal unity and cooperation. When we face challenges, we come together as a community and help one another. THIS spirit is often seen during natural disasters when neighbors assists each other in rebuilding homes or providing food or shelter to those in need.
